During the Nara Rurie period (February 8th to 14th) and the Omizutori period (March 1st to 14th), the museum is open until 6:00 p.m. every day, and until 7:00 p.m. on March 12th, the day of the Kago Taimatsu.

Holidays

The museum is closed on Mondays* and from December 28th through January 1st.
*When a national holiday falls on a Monday, the museum remains open and closes that Tuesday. In cases of consecutive holidays, the museum remains open and closes the day after they end.
Exceptions when the museum is open on Mondays:
The museum will remain open on April 27 and August 10, during the Nara Rurie period (February 8th–14th), and during the Tōdai-ji Omizutori Ritual (March 1st–14th).
Please note that the museum sometimes closes on other days as well.

Discount with Accompanying Children

A ¥100 discount applies to adults or a ¥50 discount applies to university students, if you are accompanying children under 18 of age or high school students. The discount is available for up to 2 people per child.

Late Hours Discount

Visitors who arrive after 5:00 PM on days with extended hours can be admitted at 600yen(general),300yen(college students).
