The New Wings of the Nara National Museum
| Saturday, February 7th to Sunday, March 15th, 2026 | The New West Wing Feature Exhibition Treasures of Tōdaiji’s Omizutori Ritual | 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. During the Nara Rurie period (February 8th to 14th) and the Omizutori period (March 1st to 14th), the museum is open until 6:00 p.m. every day, and until 7:00 p.m. on March 12th, the day of the Kago Taimatsu. |

Extended opening hours
April 1, 2025 – March 31, 2026
- March 1st to 14th, 2026: Omizutori Ritual (Tōdai-ji Nigatsu-dō); the museum will remain open until 6:00 p.m., except on March 12th, when it will remain open until 7:00 p.m.
April 1, 2026 – March 31, 2027
- August 5th to 14th, 2026: Nara Tōkae; the museum will remain open until 7:00 p.m. on August 8th and until 6:00 p.m. on all other days.
- August 15th, 2026: Tōdai-ji Mantō Kuyō-e / Kasuga Taisha Chūgen Mantōrō; the museum will remain open until 7:00 p.m.
- December 17th, 2026: Kasuga Wakamiya On-Matsuri Procession; the museum will remain open until 7:00 p.m.
- February 3rd, 2027: Kasuga Taisha Setsubun Mantōrō (“Thousand Lanterns”); the museum will remain open until 7:00 p.m.
- February 8th to 14th, 2027: Nara Rurie; the museum will remain open until 6:00 p.m.
- March 1st to 14th, 2027: Omizutori Ritual (Tōdai-ji Nigatsu-dō); the museum will remain open until 6:00 p.m., except on March 12th, when it will remain open until 7:00 p.m.

Holidays
The museum is closed on Mondays* and from December 28th through January 1st.
*When a national holiday or public holiday falls on a Monday, the museum remains open and closes on the following weekday. In cases of consecutive holidays, the museum remains open and closes on the weekday following the final day of the holiday period.
Exceptions when the museum is open on Mondays:
The museum will remain open on April 27th, August 10th (during the Nara Tōkae), February 8th (during Nara Rurie), and on March 1st and March 8th (during the Tōdai-ji Nigatsu-dō Shuni-e [Omizutori] period).

Discount with Accompanying Children
A ¥100 discount applies to adults or a ¥50 discount applies to university students, if you are accompanying children under 18 of age or high school students. The discount is available for up to 2 people per child.
Late Hours Discount
Visitors who arrive after 5:00 PM on days with extended hours can be admitted at 600yen(general),300yen(college students).
