The teachings on the importance of propriety, purity, and benevolence ascribed to three of the most important Shinto deities are gathered here. At the center is Amaterasu Ōmikami, the sacred name of the kami who resides at Ise Shrine; on the right is Hachimanshin of Iwashimizu; and on the left is Kasugashin of Kasuga. The teachings are said to have manifested as an oracle at Tōdaiji's pond, a belief traced back to the late medieval period.
