The priest Myōe (1173–1232) of Kōsanji Temple kept records of his dreams throughout his life. This is one such record. He writes that in his dream, while he was chanting prayers to Amida (Skt. Amitābha), a golden ray of light emanated from the west and illuminated his brow.
