Despite its small size, this painting contains an Amida (Skt. Amitābha) triad in the center and thus is recognized as an image of Amida’s Pure Land. It is seen from a birds-eye perspective and is drawn with extremely fine detail. This depiction of Amida’s Pure Land differs from images such as the Taima mandara and others within later mainstream Buddhist painting repertoires.
