A passage from the "Parable of the Phantom City" (Jp. Kejōyu-bon), the seventh chapter of the Lotus Sutra (more fully Sutra on the White Lotus of the Sublime Dharma Sutra ) has been inscribed on this bronze plate. There are 34 characters in each line of text and 25 lines of text on both the front and back of the plate. On the basis of these characteristics, it appears to be one of 37 bronze sutra plates excavated from the Chōanji Sutra Mound site in Ōita.
