This six-armed Nyoirin Kannon is seated in Kannon's Pure Land paradise of Mt. Potalaka (J. Fudaraku-sen). The entire figure is painted in gold and intricate cut-gold designs (kirikane) adorn the robe, which is representative of classical style of the Kamakura period. Gold ink is used abundantly on the mountain and to add color to the pines and other trees. Waves lap at the foot of the mountain.
