Teshakujo is the name for the special variety of staff that is characterized by its short handle. The head of the short-handled staff has rings on three sides of the central finial (sorin), from each hangs a single ring-chime (yukan). On the top stands a flower vase. This type is said to have been preferred by mountain ascetics known as shugenja.
