This unclothed figure was decorated with a lotus flower motif in the groin area. It was originally clothed in a fabric garment. Examples of unclothed statues increased after the Kamakura period, and statues of Jizo bosatsu (Skt. Kṣitigarbha) and Kobo Daishi (Great Master Kobo, an honorific tile for the monk Kukai) appeared, but statues of Amida nyorai were the most common.
