During his life Shōko lent his hand to reproducing at least three versions of the Red Sandalwood Sugoroku Board with Marquetry Design in the Shōsō-in (North Section 37), of which this is thelast. This piece fully demonstrates the results of his having had direct contact with the original when he made the first reproduction.
