A reproduction of a phoenix statue that was attached to the Golden Hall Canopy at Hōryūji Temple. Unlike the original, which is made of camphor wood, this replica is carved from Japanese cypress and its form is faithfully reproduced. An inscription on the attached platform notes that it was made by the modern sculptor Kanō Tessai (1845-1925), making it a noteworthy example of modern replicas of classical art.
