An enormous full moon rises above the sacred landscape of Kasuga Shrine. The moon can in this case be understood as a moon wheel, or gachirin. Placed within disks to the left and right respectively are the first star of the Big Dipper constellation and the bodhisattva Kokūzō, reflecting beliefs surrounding astral deities of the time. The goddess Ḍākinī riding on a fox and the bodhisattva Seishi fly towards the torii gate in the foreground.
