This gilt-bronze icon was cast during the early stages of such productions in China. The style can be traced back to Gandhara by way of Central Asia, but the left-right symmetry of the composition of the design of the robe, and its folded arms with one hand resting upon the other, make the statue evocative of a Chinese immortal.
