The flower on the lid of this red sandalwood container with flush-fitting lid (inrōbuta-zukuri) replicates one ofthe twenty-four small six-petal flowers in boxwood, black sandalwood, ivory, and green-stained deer horn marquetry indicators on the top of the Red Sandalwood Sugoroku Board with Marquetry in the Shōsō-in (North Section 37). Finished with polished lacquer, this sweet container has a lustrous sheen.
