This piece replicates a Red Sandalwood Straight Line Inking String Tool in the Shōsō-in Repository(Middle Section 116). Made of red sandalwood, thedesign was painted in gold, while the original used silver paint. The original piece was discovered in1904, and it is highly likely Hanko did restorationwork on it.
