This is a copy of a letter sent by the shōgun Ashikaga Yoshimitsu (1358-1408) to the Regent Nijō Morotsugu on the 26th day of the eighth month of Kōryaku 2 (1380). The letter is a recommendation that the monk Enshu of Kōfuku-ji temple be named the abbot of the temple. Enshu was appointed to thepost on the following day, the 27th.
