This is part of a printed copy of the “Sutra on the Great Perfection of Wisdom” (J. Daihan’nya kyō; Skt. Mahāprajñāpāramitā-sūtra). It was preserved at Daijō-ji Temple in Kami-chō, Hyōgo. The annotation at the end of the accordionstyle folded book (J. orihon) reveals that it was printed prior to 1383 (Eitoku 3). Its frontispiece features Śākyamuni and the Sixteen Protective Deities. The margins of this lavish production are done in silver ink.
