This painting shows a story in the Jobungi sectionof the Kanmuryōjukyō (Sutra of the Meditation on the Buddha of Immeasurable Life). In this story, at the request of the tragic figure Idaike bunin, Shaka(Skt. Sakyāmuni), located at the lower left, makes the Pure Land of Amida (Skt. Amitābha) appear. The Taima mandara also appears in the scene in the upper left.
