The campaign to copy the Buddhist canon at Hōryū-ji temple was carried out in three stages, and this scroll was copied during the second stage in 1115 (Eikyū 3) by the monk Rinkō. Rinkō later became one of the leading promoters of the third stage of the campaign. The names of the sponsors who made donations to cover costs in response to the campaign are written at the end of the scroll.
