This is one type of Buddhist bell which has images of Buddhist deities cast around the body. This bell depicts Bonten (Skt. Brahmā), Taishakuten (Indra), and the Guardians of the Four Directions (Jpn. Shitennō). There are many examples of these types of bells from the Tang (618-907) and Song (960-1276) dynasties, but considering that formalizations appear in many aspects of this work, it is thought to be from the Yuan dynasty (1271-1368).
