This is an oi cabinet carried by Shugendō adherents, known as yamabushi, to transport the objects they use when performing ascetic practices in the mountains. Lacquer covers its wooden surfaces, and bronze fittings coated in gold provide further adornment. Swords with three-pronged vajra handles appear on eggplant-shaped strips of wood, and the door that opens at the upper section has three-story pagodas in an archaic form that can be traced back to around the middle part of the Muromachi period (1392–1573).
