The shiketsu were implements erected at the four corners of the large altar of an esoteric Buddhist ritual; they were linked by a cord, called a dansen, that demarcated sacred space. They are usually in the shape of an elongated single pronged vajra (tokkosho), and the shape of the vajra portion of these items is plain and topped in a jewel shape indicating that they have been used for an eso-teric initiation ritual into the Kongōkai (Diamond Realm).
