This large-scale sutra-chest houses a major portion of the voluminous Daihannyakyō. The chest holds 200 of the 600 scrolls of the sutra. There is a vermilion lacquer inscription inside the lid, indicating that it was produced in 1349 (Jōwa 5) and kept in the Sansho-sha shrine of Yoshida Honjō estate in Harima province (modern-day Katō city in Hyōgo prefecture).
