The three-storied wood stupas are formed by a throwing wheel. Inside stupas, there is the mantra of Dharani from the sutras of Mukujōkō, which is likened to the sarira. After the emperor Shōtoku suppressed the war of Emi-no Oshikatsu in 746, in total of one-million stupas were placed in the ten biggest temples including the Tōdai-ji temple.
