This vajra tray held a set of ritual implements that included pronged vajra pestles (kongōsho) and a vajra bell (kongōrei) used in Esoteric Buddhist rites. As the pronged vajra pestles and vajra bell have been lost, only the tray remains. The low and thin plate gives the entire work a serene feel that indicates the style in that of the Heian period.
