After several portions were excised from this scroll of the fourth fascicle of the Lotus Sutra, the remaining five sheets of paper were reassembled and mounted as a handscroll. The paper was decorated with flakes of silver leaf (ginpaku), silver ink (gindei) and other types of ornament. The margin lines were created with cut gold leaf (kirikane). This manuscript exudes a calm tranquility while displaying elaborate ornament.
