This is a replica (in the collection of the Nara NationalMuseum) of a brocade banner that was formerly keptat Hyōzu Taisha Shrine. As only the head and main body of the banner remained in excellent condition, they alone were replicated and the “tongue” and other portions were not reproduced. The dies used reproduce the original colors. This item was createdunder a grant to preserve cultural properties from The Asahi Shimbun Foundation.
