This sampler copies the flower scroll design on the side of the Red Sandalwood Sugoroku Board with Marquetry (North Section 37) in the Shōsō-in. It uses the same materials as the original and attempts toreplicate the design faithfully, but perhaps because it is a trial piece, many parts are simplified.
