This calligraphic sampler, called a tekagami in Japanese, contains excerpts from 37 ancient sutras and one ancient document, pasted front and back of its accordion-style folding pages. This is a collection of famed sutras from Nara to Kamakura times. Compared with similar items, this collection is characterized by the fact that each excerpt contains more lines of sutra text than found in other collections.
