In this text, the Buddha explains the concept of emptiness to Gakkō Dōji as a means of treating all living things with an equal heart and of attaining enlightenment. The paper is type of mulberry (Lat. broussounetia papyrifera) paper used for writing, and the text of the sutra is written in strong, sharp strokes. Corrections are visible in places, indicated by erasure marks.
