This is a porcelain sutra container from China; it is thought to have been produced at a kiln in Zhejiang or Fujian province to fulfill an order placed from Japan. The lid has a pagoda-shaped knob, and the entire work is coated in a light green glaze. Such examples of crosscultural trade have largely been excavated in the northern part of Kyūshu.
