and calligraphic works

The institute was founded in 2002 for restoring and conserving the National Treasures and the Important Cultural Properties as well as conducting related research and studies.
The institute invites experts with experience on the restoration of the National Treasures and Important Cultural Properties, such as sculptures, paintings, written materials, and lacquer ware, and provides assistance and advice to restorers. The institute also conducts related surveys and provides the research results to the public to promote greater understanding of art conservation. The laboratory also advises owners and custodians of cultural properties regarding conservation procedures.
