“Masterpieces of Buddhist Art” showcases works from our Permanent Collection. This exhibition runs from Saturday, April 22nd, to Sunday, June 4th, 2023 in the West Wing of Nara National Museum.
The Exhibition from the Permanent Collection in the West Wing separately displays paintings, writings, decorative arts, and archeological works.

VenueThe Nara Buddhist Sculpture Hall
One can experience Japanese Buddhist sculpture dating from the Asuka period (592–710) to the Kamakura period (1185–1333) at the Nara Buddhist Sculpture Hall, in addition to Buddhist images from China, the Korean peninsula, and other regions where Buddhism has flourished.

VenueRitual Bronzes Gallery
Chinese ritual bronzes from thousands of years ago are on display in this gallery in the museum’s original building. The bronzes range in date from the Shang dynasty (Yin dynasty; 17th c.–11th c. BCE) to the Han dynasty (Western Han, Xin, and Eastern Han; 206 BCE–220 CE), and they are arranged to offer a sense of their developments and evolution.
